Programa Parkinson

Table tennis as therapy. Improving the quality of life of people with Parkinson's through sport.

What is the Parkinson Program?

The Ping Pong Parkinson program at CTT L'Hospitalet is a pioneering initiative that uses table tennis as a therapeutic tool for people diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Various scientific studies have demonstrated the benefits of table tennis for improving coordination, balance, and quality of life for these individuals.

Table tennis against Parkinson's: how they beat the disease in moments

Jaume Pou (53) was diagnosed with Parkinson's in March 2023, although the first symptoms had appeared back in 2018. One day, a friend told him that table tennis could be beneficial for people with this condition. He started training at CTT L'Hospitalet, where last September the Parkinson section was born, now with 15 members.

"Somehow, I temporarily break through the muscle rigidity I suffer. I do things I normally can't do. It's like beating the disease for a few moments."

CTT L'Hospitalet seeks sponsor for its pioneering Parkinson team

Twelve months later, with 30 loyal players enrolled, CTT L'Hospitalet seeks a sponsor to give them the boost and visibility they deserve. "We've left the shirts of the Superdivisión first team and the Parkinson team blank while we look for a sponsor", explains Roger Guarch, club president.

"We would like to be sponsored by a laboratory or company related to the research and treatment of this disease."
